Energy UK annual conference with Sense -

On 18th October, our founder Julie attended the Energy UK annual conference at the Institutition of Civil Engineers for a day of high level energy discussion around people, policy and prosperity.

Our client, Michael Jary, UK MD of the green tech scale-up Sense was sponsoring and chairing a panel on People in Energy, alongside the CEO of E.ON, Chris Norbury, Gillian Cooper, Head of Energy Policy, Citizens Advice, and Madeleine Gabriel, Mission Director at NESTA.

Sense provides machine learning technology for next-generation smart meters, which can help nudge the load and spot faults on the grid. 50 percent of smart meters in the US roll out with Sense’s technology, and Sense is now introducing their technology to the UK and Netherlands.

There was rounded agreement form the panel about the need to get customers more engaged in how we shift energy use in a way that shows them the value of doing so, how younger and less well-off groups can get engaged, and how digitisation and the opening up of data is central to engaging people in the energy transition to Net Zero.

The auditorium was full throughout the day and we heard some very impressive speeches from, in particular Ed Miliband, Claire Coutinho MP and Emma Pinchbeck of Energy UK. It was good to make some valuable in-person connections too with the teams at Smart Energy GB, and Energy News Live.
